Luxury Boat Charter & Yacht Rental in Ibiza

A private boat charter in Ibiza is the easiest way to see the island the way locals do: from the water, away from the crowds, on your own schedule.

Ibiza Sunset Tours is a family-run boat charter and yacht company based in San Antonio, on Ibiza's west coast. We run scheduled sunset boat tours, full-day trips to Formentera, and fully private yacht charters for groups who want the whole boat to themselves. Every trip is built around the same idea: good company, calm water, an open bar, and a sunset that genuinely lives up to the hype.

Whether you're searching for a private boat charter Ibiza locals actually recommend, a luxury yacht rental Ibiza for a special occasion, or a simple Ibiza boat hire for an afternoon with friends, our team can match you with the right vessel and route. We know the coastline from Cala Comte to Es Vedra and the crossing to Formentera better than anyone, and our captains have been sailing these waters for years.

You don't need a licence to join a skippered charter — our captains handle navigation, mooring, and safety, so you can focus on the swim stops, the tapas, and the view. If you do hold a skipper's licence and want to helm the boat yourself on a private charter, just let us know when you book and we'll talk you through the options.

Ibiza has been a byword for sunsets since the first bars opened along the San Antonio seafront decades ago, and watching that same sunset from the water is a different experience entirely from watching it from a beach bar. There's no crowd, no queue for a table, and no obstruction — just open sea, the boat gently rocking, and a direct line of sight to the horizon as the sky shifts through orange, pink, and deep red. It's the single biggest reason repeat visitors to the island keep booking a boat charter year after year.

Beyond the sunset itself, chartering a boat solves a problem that's easy to underestimate on a short trip: getting to the coves and beaches that don't have road access, or that get impossibly crowded by midday. A boat charter puts all of that coastline within reach in an afternoon, without the parking, the walk down, or the fight for a sunbed.

Our Ibiza Boat Tours: Choose Your Experience

Three tours, each built around a different kind of day on the water. All departing from San Antonio.

Ibiza Sunset Boat Tour From €50 3 Hours

Sunset Boat Tour

Sail the west coast, swim in a hidden cove, and watch golden hour from in front of Cafe Mambo. Our most popular sunset cruise, and the easiest way to experience Ibiza's coastline in one evening.

  • Open bar & Spanish tapas
  • Snorkeling & swim stop
  • Small group, max comfort
Formentera Day Trip From €85 6–8 Hours

Formentera Day Trip

The island most people never reach. Turquoise water, beach stops, and a golden sail home. Our Formentera boat trip is the best way to see two islands in a single day without joining a crowded ferry.

  • Multiple beach stops
  • Drinks & snacks included
  • Sunset return sailing
Private Boat Charter Ibiza From €350 2–8 Hours

Private Boat Charter

Your whole boat, your route, your pace. Perfect for celebrations, corporate outings, and groups wanting privacy. This is our most flexible private yacht charter option on the island.

  • Skipper & fuel included
  • Custom route & timing
  • Up to 10 guests

Our Boat & Yacht Fleet

From open motor boats to fully crewed sailing yachts, we match the vessel to your group size and the kind of day you want on the water.

Motor yacht Ibiza

Motor Yachts

Fast, comfortable, and roomy on deck, our motor yacht rentals are the go-to choice for sunset cruises and short coastal hops between coves. A motor yacht gets you to a swim stop quickly, leaving more time in the water and less time in transit, which matters most on shorter three-hour tours where every minute counts. The sun deck and shaded lounge area both work well for groups who want to split time between sunbathing and staying cool.

  • Sun deck & shaded lounge
  • Great for groups of 6–10
  • Fastest way between coves
Catamaran rental Ibiza

Catamarans

Extra stability and extra deck space make our catamaran charters a favourite for families, larger groups, and full-day Formentera crossings, where guests are onboard for six to eight hours rather than a shorter evening cruise. The twin-hull design cuts down on the rocking motion that causes seasickness on choppier days, and the wide, flat deck gives everyone room to move around, sunbathe, and set up for lunch without feeling cramped.

  • Wide, stable deck
  • Ideal for the Formentera crossing
  • Comfortable for children
Sailing yacht Ibiza

Sailing Yachts

For a quieter, slower pace, a sailing yacht rental trades speed for atmosphere. With the engine off and the sails up, the ride is noticeably quieter than a motor yacht, which makes it a natural fit for a relaxed sunset charter, a proposal, or a small, intimate celebration on the water. It's a request we hear most often from couples booking a private charter for an anniversary or engagement.

  • Quiet, wind-powered sailing
  • Romantic sunset atmosphere
  • Best for smaller groups

Not sure which boat suits your plans? Tell us your group size and the occasion, and we'll recommend the right option from our boat tours or set up a private charter around it. As a general rule, we match the boat to the day rather than trying to fit your day around whichever boat happens to be free — so the same enquiry might result in a different recommendation depending on the season, your group size, and how far along the coast you'd like to go.

Explore Ibiza's Most Beautiful Destinations

Depending on the tour and the weather, your captain may include any of these stops along the coastline.

Es Vedra boat tour Ibiza

Es Vedra

A dramatic limestone islet rising almost 400 metres out of the sea off the south-west coast, wrapped in decades of local legend about magnetic anomalies and its role as a mythical resting place for sirens. There's no swimming stop here — the water is deep and the currents can be strong close to the rock — but slowing down to pass Es Vedra by boat, especially as the light turns gold in the late afternoon, is one of the most photographed and talked-about moments of any Ibiza boat trip. It sits further south than our standard sunset route, so seeing it usually means booking a private charter with a longer duration.

Cala Comte cruise

Cala Comte

One of the island's most photographed beaches, known for shallow turquoise water broken up by small rocky islets just offshore, and for sunsets that regularly draw a crowd on land. Approaching from the water lets you skip that crowd entirely — your captain can anchor just off the beach for a swim and snorkel stop, giving you the same view without needing to find parking or a spot on the sand. It's a regular stop on our Sunset Boat Tour when conditions allow.

Cala Bassa boat charter

Cala Bassa

Calm, sheltered water and pine-backed cliffs make Cala Bassa one of our favourite anchoring spots for a relaxed swim and snorkel stop, particularly on days when the wind picks up elsewhere along the coast. The bay stays noticeably calmer than more exposed stretches of coastline, which makes it a reliable option for families or anyone less confident in open water. Paddleboards go out here more than anywhere else on our routes.

Cala Salada yacht Ibiza

Cala Salada

Tucked into the coastline north of San Antonio, this quieter bay rarely gets the same footfall as the beaches further south, which makes it a favourite for a short, low-key anchor stop away from the crowds. The water here tends to be exceptionally clear, and the surrounding cliffs offer some shade in the middle of a warm afternoon — a good pick if your group wants a genuinely relaxed stop rather than a busy beach scene.

Cala Jondal Ibiza charter

Cala Jondal

A stylish, pebble-beach stretch of coastline on the south coast, close to some of Ibiza's best-known beach clubs and a favourite anchoring point for larger yachts through the middle of the day. It's a longer run from San Antonio, so it's mainly a request we build into private charters rather than the standard sunset route — a good pick if your day includes lunch or drinks at a beach club before heading back up the coast.

Formentera boat trip

Formentera

Clearer water, quieter beaches, and a noticeably different pace than Ibiza, despite being barely half an hour away by boat. Ses Illetes, on the northern tip of the island, is regularly ranked among the best beaches in Europe for its shallow, almost lagoon-like water. A full crossing needs more time than a standard sunset cruise, which is why it runs as its own itinerary — see our full Formentera Day Trip for the schedule and what's included.

What Every Tour Includes

Across all our tours, the basics never change.

  • Open bar: cava, beer, soft drinks throughout
  • Spanish tapas: served fresh onboard
  • Snorkel gear: ready to use, no extra cost
  • Local captain: knows every cove and route
  • Free cancellation: up to 24 hours before
  • Instant confirmation: no waiting

All of our tours are run as all-inclusive yacht charters — the price you see is the price you pay, with no surprise add-ons once you're on the water. Fuel and skipper fees are built into every quote, on both the scheduled tours and any private yacht rental.

Paddleboards are available on request, and every boat carries full safety equipment, life jackets in every size, and a first aid kit. If you or anyone in your group has a specific requirement — dietary, mobility, or otherwise — mention it when you book and we'll do our best to plan around it.

We deliberately keep the inclusions list the same across every tour rather than gating the open bar or snorkel gear behind a higher-priced package. The only real differences between our tours are duration, destination, and whether you're sharing the boat with other guests or booking it privately — the standard of what's onboard stays consistent either way.

A Boat Charter for Every Occasion

Our private charters are booked for all kinds of celebrations and events, not just holidays.

A private boat charter works as a genuinely flexible venue — there's no capacity limit to negotiate, no noise curfew to work around, and no need to book catering, music, and a location separately. Once you've reserved the boat, the day is entirely yours to shape, whether that means a tightly planned itinerary with a specific stop at a set time, or nothing more structured than "take us wherever looks good."

For events with catering, decorations, or a specific itinerary in mind, message us directly and we'll build the day around your private yacht charter from start to finish. We regularly work with guests planning a surprise element into the day — a proposal timed to golden hour, a cake brought onboard partway through a birthday charter, or a specific playlist for a hen or stag party — and we'd rather know in advance so your captain can help it land properly rather than finding out on the day.

Booking, Cancellation & Payment

A short, plain-language summary of how booking works.

Booking a spot on the Sunset Boat Tour or Formentera Day Trip takes a couple of minutes over WhatsApp or email — send us your preferred date, group size, and a contact number, and we'll confirm availability and send payment details. Confirmation is instant once payment is received, so you're not left waiting to hear back before you can plan the rest of your day around it.

Free cancellation applies up to 24 hours before your scheduled departure, whether you're booked on a shared tour or a private charter. If the weather turns and conditions aren't safe to sail, we'll always offer a reschedule or a full refund rather than running the tour regardless — that decision is made by the captain, not by how many bookings are on the calendar for the day.

For private charters and larger events, we typically ask for a deposit to secure the date, with the balance due closer to the trip. If your plans change well ahead of time, get in touch and we'll do our best to move the booking to a different date rather than losing it altogether.

How Much Does a Yacht Charter in Ibiza Cost?

A straightforward breakdown of what you can expect to pay.

Pricing depends mainly on whether you're joining a shared tour or booking a private boat. Our Sunset Boat Tour starts from €50 per person for three hours, including the open bar, tapas, and snorkelling gear. The Formentera Day Trip starts from €85 per person for a full 6–8 hour day, including multiple beach stops and drinks.

A private boat charter is priced per boat rather than per person, starting from €350 for a shorter charter and scaling up with duration and group size, up to 10 guests. Skipper and fuel are always included in the quoted price — there's no separate fuel surcharge added at the end of the trip.

Prices can vary slightly by season, boat availability, and route length — a private charter to a further destination like Es Vedra, for example, will typically cost more than a shorter charter kept within the west coast coves. What doesn't change is how the price is presented: every quote we send breaks down exactly what's included, so there's nothing to work out once you're already on the water.

For an exact quote for your dates, message us on WhatsApp or email ibizasunsettours@gmail.com with your group size and preferred date, and we'll reply with availability and a firm price, usually within the hour during the summer season.

Frequently Requested Extras

A few add-ons guests ask about most often when booking a private charter.

  • Extended bar options: upgrade beyond the standard open bar for longer private charters
  • Catering upgrades: a fuller meal onboard instead of tapas, for full-day charters
  • Birthday or celebration setup: decorations and a cake stop with advance notice
  • Photography: we can recommend local photographers who work from the water
  • Extended paddleboard time: more boards or longer use at a swim stop
  • Custom music: bring your own playlist or speaker setup for the day

Departure times are set so the boat is already positioned for golden hour by the time the sun starts to drop, rather than rushing to get into place at the last minute. If photography is a priority for your group, the ten to fifteen minutes right before the sun touches the horizon tends to produce the richest colour, so it's worth having a camera or phone ready and charged well before that point rather than scrambling for it once the light starts changing.

Who These Tours Are Built For

Our tours work for very different groups of people.

There's no single "best" tour — the right choice depends far more on who you're travelling with than on the itinerary itself. A group of friends looking for an open bar and music wants a different afternoon than a family with young children, and both want something different again from a couple booking a private charter for an anniversary. The table below is a starting point based on what we see most often, but it's always worth messaging us directly if your group doesn't fit neatly into one category.

What to Bring on Your Sunset Tour

Keep it light. Here is what actually matters.

Storage onboard is limited, so the general rule is to pack light and leave anything you don't need for the water back at your hotel. Bags and towels can go in a dry storage area away from splashes, but valuables you're not comfortable getting wet are best left behind entirely rather than risked at a swim stop.

  • Seasickness tablets: if sensitive, take one an hour before
  • Light layer: evenings cool down after sunset
  • Charged phone or camera: you will want photos
  • Swimwear
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Cash or card

Why Choose Ibiza Sunset Tours?

A few reasons past guests keep coming back and recommending us to friends.

  • Local expertise: our captains have sailed this coastline for years and know every cove worth stopping at
  • Transparent pricing: the quote you receive is the price you pay — no hidden fuel or booking fees
  • Small groups: we cap numbers on shared tours so it never feels crowded
  • Real reviews: our bookings come mostly from repeat guests and referrals
  • Easy communication: reach us directly on WhatsApp or by email, any time before your trip
  • Flexible booking: free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure

Most tour companies on the island operate large boats running fixed routes with dozens of guests at once. We've deliberately stayed small — a handful of boats, a tight-knit team of captains, and shared tours capped at a size where your captain can still point out coves by name and adjust the route based on the day's conditions. If that's the kind of trip you're after, whether it's a scheduled Sunset Boat Tour, a full Formentera Day Trip, or a fully private yacht charter, we'd love to have you onboard.

The Complete Guide to Boat Charter & Yacht Rental in Ibiza

Everything to think through before you book — from choosing the right boat to picking the right week to travel.

This section pulls together the questions we're asked most often, whether that's over WhatsApp in the days before a trip or in person once guests are already back on land and planning their next visit. It's written as a reference rather than a sales pitch — use it to work out which tour fits your plans, when to travel, and what to expect once you're on the water, then reach out with anything it doesn't cover.

What Makes Ibiza's Sunset So Famous?

Ibiza's reputation for spectacular sunsets isn't just marketing. The island's west coast faces almost directly into the setting sun, with an unobstructed line to the horizon over open water — a geographic quirk that's rare for a Mediterranean island of this size. San Antonio Bay, where all of our tours depart from, was built around exactly this: bars like Cafe Mambo and Cafe del Mar have anchored a whole sunset-watching culture along the seafront since the 1980s, turning a simple sunset into something people plan entire evenings, and entire trips, around.

Watching from a boat changes the experience in a few concrete ways. You're not competing for a table or a spot on the wall — the whole horizon is open. The light hits the water differently than it hits a beach, throwing color across the surface in a way that's genuinely hard to capture from land. And because the boat is moving slowly rather than fixed in one spot, your captain can angle toward wherever the colour is strongest as the sun drops, something no fixed venue on shore can offer.

It's worth noting that the exact quality of a sunset varies night to night depending on cloud cover and haze, same as anywhere in the world — but the open, west-facing position of San Antonio Bay means Ibiza produces reliably strong sunsets more nights than not, especially through the summer months.

Choosing the Right Duration for Your Charter

Our three tour formats map roughly onto three different amounts of time, and it's worth thinking about which fits your trip rather than just picking by price. A three-hour sunset tour is enough time for one or two swim stops, a relaxed drink, and the sunset itself — plenty for an evening, but not enough to properly explore multiple beaches. A six-to-eight hour Formentera day trip gives you room to properly settle in at more than one beach, have a proper lunch, and still catch the sunset on the way back.

A private charter can run anywhere from two to eight hours, which makes it the most flexible option if your plans don't fit neatly into either of the other formats — a shorter two-hour charter works well for a quick celebration or a group with limited time, while a longer full-day private charter suits anyone wanting to combine several of the destinations covered further down this page into one custom route.

Ibiza vs Formentera: Which Boat Trip Should You Choose?

This is the question we get asked most often, and the honest answer depends on how much time you have. If you're on the island for a short break and want the classic Ibiza experience, our Sunset Boat Tour covers the west coast highlights — hidden coves, a swim stop, and the famous view of golden hour from the water in front of Cafe Mambo — in a manageable three hours. It's the better choice for evenings, for groups who want to be back on land in time for dinner, and for anyone who gets seasick on longer crossings.

If you have a full day free, the Formentera Day Trip is worth the extra time. Formentera has a different character to Ibiza altogether — quieter beaches, clearer water, and far fewer crowds. Our boats cross in around 30–40 minutes, then spend the day moving between beach stops before sailing back into Ibiza as the sun sets. Many guests tell us it's the best day of their whole trip, simply because it feels like visiting a second, calmer island without booking a separate ferry, hotel, or transfer.

For groups who want both — a west coast cruise one evening and a Formentera crossing another day — a private charter lets you set your own itinerary across multiple days if needed.

Best Time for a Boat Tour in Ibiza

The sailing season in Ibiza generally runs from May through October, with the calmest water and warmest evenings from June to September. July and August are the busiest months on the island overall, which means our sunset tours and private charters book out fastest during that window — if you're travelling in peak summer, we'd recommend reserving your spot at least a couple of weeks ahead.

May, September, and October offer a quieter alternative with fewer crowds on the water and at the coves, while still delivering warm evenings and reliable sunsets. As the sunset guide further up this page shows, departure times shift earlier as the season moves into autumn, so always double check your exact pickup time when you book rather than assuming it stays fixed year-round.

Whatever month you travel, our team keeps a close eye on the marine forecast in the days before your trip, and will always reach out proactively if conditions look like they could affect your route.

Luxury Yacht vs Catamaran Charter: What's the Difference?

A motor yacht rental is built for speed and comfort — it gets you between coves quickly, has a strong sun deck for lounging, and suits groups who want to cover more coastline in less time. A catamaran charter trades a little speed for a much wider, more stable deck, which makes it the better pick for families with children, larger groups who want space to spread out, or anyone prone to seasickness on the longer Formentera crossing.

Neither option is objectively "better" — it comes down to what your day looks like. If you're planning a shorter evening sunset cruise with a tighter group, a motor yacht is usually the right call. If you're chartering privately for a full day with a mixed group of adults and kids, ask us about a catamaran when you enquire.

Top Hidden Coves You Can Only Reach by Boat

Some of the best swimming spots on Ibiza's coastline simply aren't accessible by road, which is part of why chartering a boat is worth it even for a short visit. Beyond the well-known beaches like Cala Comte and Cala Bassa, there are small, unnamed coves along the west coast that only a local captain will know to stop at — narrow inlets with clear, still water and no crowd at all, perfect for a quiet snorkel away from the main tourist beaches.

This is one of the biggest advantages of booking with a local operator rather than a large tour company: our captains have been sailing this exact stretch of coastline for years, and each trip is planned around wherever the water and wind conditions are best on the day, not a fixed route locked in months in advance.

Planning a Corporate or Group Event on the Water

Beyond holidays, a growing number of our private charters are booked for company off-sites, client entertaining, and team celebrations. A boat is a genuinely different environment for a work event — there's no venue to set up, no need to book transport between locations, and the change of scenery tends to get people talking who wouldn't otherwise. We can build a corporate yacht charter around a half-day or full-day format, with catering, branded touches, or a specific stop (such as a beach club at Cala Jondal) worked into the plan.

For hen parties, stag parties, and birthday charters, the format is similar: full use of the boat, an open bar, a swim stop, and as much or as little structure to the day as your group wants. Let us know the occasion when you enquire and we'll suggest a route and duration that fits.

Safety Standards on Every Charter

Every boat we operate carries full safety equipment, life jackets in every size including for children, and a first aid kit, and is skippered by an experienced local captain licensed to operate commercially in Balearic waters. We monitor the marine forecast ahead of every departure, and if conditions aren't safe for the planned route, we will reschedule your trip or offer a full refund rather than sail regardless.

If you or anyone in your group has a specific concern — swimming ability, a medical condition, or travelling with very young children — flag it when you book so your captain can plan the day accordingly.

Group Size & Boat Capacity Guide

Our shared tours run in small groups, capped well below the boat's maximum capacity, so it never feels crowded even at the height of summer. If you're travelling as a couple or a pair of friends, the Sunset Boat Tour or Formentera Day Trip works well and keeps costs per person low. Larger groups of six to ten people, or anyone wanting the boat entirely to themselves, are usually better served by a private charter, where the per-boat price often works out similar to — or even better than — booking that many individual seats on a shared tour, with the added benefit of full privacy and a route built around your group.

If your group is larger than ten guests, get in touch directly — we can sometimes arrange two boats sailing together on the same route for larger celebrations and events.

As a rough guide, groups of two to four guests are usually best served by a shared tour, since the per-person price is hard to beat and the group still gets an intimate boat rather than a large one. Groups of five to ten sit right at the point where a private charter often costs about the same as booking that many seats on a shared tour, with the added benefit of full privacy and a custom route included.

Meeting Point & Getting to San Antonio Harbour

All of our boats depart from San Antonio harbour on Ibiza's west coast, a short walk from the town's main promenade, hotels, and restaurants. If you're staying elsewhere on the island — Ibiza Town, Playa d'en Bossa, Santa Eulalia, or further afield — San Antonio is reachable by taxi or bus in well under an hour from most areas, and many hotels can arrange a transfer directly to the harbour. Exact meeting point details, including which pontoon to head to, are always sent with your booking confirmation, and our team is reachable on WhatsApp on the day if you need directions.

For guests based closer to Marina Botafoch or Ibiza Town who would prefer a departure from that side of the island, mention it when enquiring about a private charter — we can sometimes arrange an alternative pickup for private bookings depending on the boat and route.

Respecting the Water: Posidonia & Responsible Anchoring

Ibiza's clear water is largely thanks to the posidonia seagrass meadows that grow along much of the coastline — a protected ecosystem that also happens to be one of the reasons the Mediterranean here looks the way it does in photos. Our captains anchor in sandy patches wherever possible rather than directly on seagrass beds, in line with local regulations designed to protect these meadows for the long term. It's a small thing most guests never notice, but it's part of why the coves we visit stay in good condition year after year.

We'd ask the same of any private charter guests planning to swim or snorkel: please avoid touching or standing on the seagrass, and take any rubbish back onboard rather than leaving it at a swim stop.

Combining a Boat Day With the Rest of Your Ibiza Itinerary

A three-hour Sunset Boat Tour fits neatly into an evening without taking over your whole day, which makes it easy to pair with dinner in San Antonio or a night out afterwards. A full-day Formentera trip is worth treating as the main event for that day, since you'll be back late in the evening after the sunset return sailing. If you're planning a longer stay on the island, a good rhythm many guests follow is a sunset tour early in the trip to get orientated with the coastline, then a Formentera day trip or private charter later on once they know exactly which coves and beach clubs they want to revisit.

However you plan it, we're happy to talk through timing on WhatsApp or by email if you're trying to fit a boat trip around flights, other excursions, or a specific event during your stay.

Local Experts, Not a Franchise

Ibiza Sunset Tours is a small, family-run business based in San Antonio — not a reseller working from a call centre. When you message us on WhatsApp or by email, you're talking directly to the team that knows the boats, the captains, and the coastline. That's a big part of why most of our bookings come from repeat guests and word of mouth rather than paid advertising, and it's the same approach we bring to every boat tour and private charter we run.
